About

Who I Am

I'm an Honors student at the University at Albany, pursuing a career as a physician-scientist. My journey began in Yemen, and while I've spent most of my life in the United States, I remain intimately connected to my roots through culture and food. I'm driven by a calling to solve problems too large for a single discipline—problems that live at the intersection of clinical research, biotechnology, and patient care.

My work in cardiac gastruloid research has shown me the vast possibilities of biotechnology, but more importantly, it has highlighted the necessity of bridging high-level science with realistic clinical and industrial applications. As an EMT and EKG Technician, I've stood with patients during their most vulnerable moments. I've learned that while medicine heals, compassion is what makes a detrimental experience bearable. I believe knowledge is sacred and meant to be shared, not commercialized.

Beyond the lab and clinic, I'm an avid photographer and podcaster, using digital media to share stories and ideas. I serve on the University Vice President's Student Advisory Board, working to improve the student experience at the institutional level. My local mosque is central to my life, and I enjoy serving the community there however I can. Whether mentoring peers as a Supplemental Instruction Leader or serving on various student organization boards, I view mentoring as an important process that continues to shape me.
